LGBT Support Group

Sugar will temporarily not be meeting, until further notice. But we will be returning soon!
Continue to check back with us for when we will be up and running again!

We are the first (official) group for LGBT diabetics in NYC. Our mission is to offer support to both the newly diagnosed and seasoned diabetics (all types of diabetics welcome) who identify as part of the LGBT community.

Please contact our Outreach Coordinator Venus at venus@act1diabetes.org with any questions, comments or if you would like to join our Sugar mailing list.

We offer a safe space (free of judgment) to talk about some of our challenges and successes concerning diabetes, as well as when those challenges intersect with other aspects of our identities.

  • Struggling with Same Gender-Loving relationships as a result of your diabetes?
  • Struggling with relationships with your healthcare providers?
  • Are you struggling with diabetes and AIDS, drug and alcohol use, or depression?
  • Do you need a space to talk about sexual challenges as a result of diabetes (such as impotence)?
