Stick Me

Rickina Velte contacted ACT1 and offered to send some samples from her Glucometer Case Company, “Stick Me Designs”. My first reaction was “love the name”. Her inspiration came from her experience with Gestational Diabetes. I thought “OK, let’s see what they are like.

I am a very monochromatic person. In other words color and bright prints are not usually my style. So when the Deluxe Bag samples came I was a little unsure how I would get used to the bold, vibrant colors. Strangely though, after three weeks of using the case, I love it! I find that when I go in my dark bag, filled with all my dark belongings, I almost get happy to see my glucometer. I have never in 16 years associated any good feelings with my meters. Lately, that has changed. I won’t say I’m happy to test. I will say I feel less mopey about it though. There’s just something about those bright colors :)

DSC_0077I love all the pockets and how smart the design is. I could use so many different meters with this case. I should state I only use One Touch meters, so I am only speaking in terms of these meters.

The thing I love most about the design is that I can put things besides my meter in the bag. Right now I carry my meter, my meter accessories, a bottle of insulin, two needles, used test strip and a huge supply of artificial sweetener in the bag. I cannot believe I can fit all of this in this bag, it’s so functional. With my regular meter case I could never fit all I needed for a quick trip to the store, now it’s a breeze.DSC_0078

Of course there is always something that can improve any product. With the deluxe bag my only negative is that I think the bag pockets should maybe be waterproof. I have already gotten blood on my bag, so maybe when I order my next one I can scotch guard the material before using it.

You know there’s a buzz about Type 1 and ACT1 when there is *competition* to design accessories for diabetics.

  • Very cute carrying case:) Thank you for sharing.

I’m going to take a stab at this comment again ……..

I am very thankful to all those who create and offer such great D supplies for us! This case looks great and I am happy that you are so pleased with it :) It may sound silly but great supplies make me happy. It makes dealing with what we do all the more pleasant, even if only a little!

I find it very cute. I would definitely buy one for myself…if I were gay. If Tricia seems to like them, perhaps I’ll buy her one. I like the idea of these, but it’s hard to get too excited as a man. I’ll just stick with boring black cases, I guess. (It is cute, though :-D )
