I Am Not a Poet

Today’s guest post is from our friend and support group member, Lesley Hoffman :)

Blood is red,
Diabetes makes me blue,
I need to change my site,
How ’bout you?

D – definitely makes me laugh sometimes
I – interesting side effects
A – always there, never goes away
B – big pain in the tush
E – everyone wants to check their blood “for fun” with my meter
T – terrible costs
E – everyone’s heard of it, no one really gets it
S – someday they’ll have a cure!

Roses are red,
My set inserter is blue,
104 is my favorite BS to have,
Too bad right now, it’s two twenty-two.

A Haiku:
I have a sweet tooth,
York peppermint pattys rock.
Thirty-four carbs, yay!

There once was a girl named Les,
In elementary school, she used to play chess.
She checks her blood a lot,
Around New York city, her strips you may spot,
About her level, she never gets stress.
(not)

THE END.

Very cute. All of you Act1 people should combine the art work you did in the meeting last year, the poems above, and the blog and publish a book for new Type 1s so they can see what it’s like to have an Attitude even while you’re Type 1. That’s a serious idea. I bet the right publisher would snap it up before you could say “bolus.”

Clearly you are a poet, Lesley! :) And I love that you have a favorite blood sugar.

Lesley I love when you blog with us! The “roses are red…” had me crack up and then made me so sad when I reread it. You are so awesome!

  • Lesley-

girl you rock! Loved your poems:)

  • Well, this is my first visit to your blog! We are a group of volunteers and starting a new initiative in a community in the same niche. Your blog provided us valuable information to work on. You have done a marvellous job!
