Good and bad week

This week has been filled with a roller coaster ride of emotions.  First the good - On Saturday, I had my baby shower and was so happy to have had my friends and family there to welcome the baby.  It was great seeing the ladies at ACT1 and I was so happy my family finally got to meet the girls!  They loved how supportive you all were!  Also, Tina made me tear up with the onesie she made which said ”My mommy lowered her A1C for me”.  I felt so fortunate to have had the ladies there cheering me on because they have been there every step of the way with me and really supported me throughout the pregnancy.

Now for the bad…the day of the shower, John noticed that our cat Buddy had turned yellow, his ears, teeth and some parts of his skin had turned yellow.  So after he dropped me off at the shower, he immediately took him to the vet.  They wanted to hospitalize him but couldn’t at that time because they would be closed the next few days.  The next day, we took him to another cat hospital and the vet told us that cats which turn yellow only have about a 50% survival rate.  They wouldn’t know for sure what he has until they run the tests and he would have to be hospitalized for a few nights.  Needless to say I was a wreck, I have grown so attached to Buddy.  Two days ago, we got the news that Buddy has lymphoma, and he likely only has weeks/months at most.  I am hoping there is a chance that he will get to meet our baby.  I’ve been so sad but I am reminded of how precious life is and that we, as PWD’s, must take care of ourselves to the best of our abilities.

Your shower was lovely Gen! I’m so glad I was there to celebrate with you :) But I’m so very sorry to hear about Buddy. There’s nothing good about having a sick friend so you’re all in my thoughts.

Oh Gen, what a bittersweet day. I am so happy we got to share in the celebration of your little angel. That shirt was made because I want you to be reminded that you have been a great Mommy since the minute you heard you were pregnant.
As for Buddy, I hope that he is comfortable and will be with you as long as he is.

  • Awesome pic! Tina is an awesome person. Sorry to hear about Buddy, hugs;)
