Decisions, decisions...by: Genevieve

So last week, I was able to test the minimed pump, and was pleasantly surprised with the ease of use and the fact that it wasn’t as cumbersome as I’d imagined.

Yesterday, I had a meeting with an Animas rep about the One Touch Ping. While I did not get to try the pump out, the rep showed me the basic functionalities of the One Touch. The major difference is the remote on the One Touch. You can test your sugar on the remote since it’s also a meter and enter in your carbs and use it to tell the pump how much insulin to give you. The remote just needs to be within 10 feet of the pump. This could come in handy if the pump is an awkward position that may be difficult to get to.

Unlike the minimed, the One Touch does not have the cgm option. I did ask about when the Dexcom cgm will be integrated into the One Touch Ping and the rep said sometime next year but could not give a definitive date. Just my opinion but looks like this integration could take a while.

I need to make my decision soon about which pump to go with. It’s a difficult decision since both pumps have some great features. Will keep you all updated.
